Moderate pace with leisurely intermittent walks up to 2 hours on a variety of terrain, including cobblestones and moderate hills. Must be able to climb at least two flights of stairs, negotiate steps without railings and tolerate periods of standing during guided tours. Some days may include 3–5 km of walking over the course of the day.

We arrive in Manchester and drive to the vibrant city of Liverpool and settle into our hotel. Enjoy time at leisure to explore the city’s waterfront, historic streets, or local attractions at your own pace. This evening, relax and enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the hotel.
We discover Liverpool’s legendary music heritage on a full-day guided Beatles tour. Visit iconic locations connected with the Fab Four, including famous landmarks and childhood neighbourhoods. Enjoy dinner at the atmospheric local pub overlooking the waterfront.
We travel from Liverpool to historic Durham through the spectacular scenery of the Lake District. Enjoy a relaxing cruise on Lake Windermere and a visit inspired by the world of Beatrix Potter. We continue to Durham where we will stay for the next 4 nights.
We explore the natural beauty of Northumberland National Park before stepping back in time at Beamish, The Living Museum of the North. Discover England’s fascinating industrial and social heritage through immersive exhibitions and historic displays. We enjoy dinner at a local pub in Durham.
We visit the lively city of Newcastle upon Tyne, famous for its iconic bridges, riverside views, and vibrant culture. Enjoy a walking tour ending with lunch and time to explore the city’s attractions, shops, and historic areas before returning to Durham.
Today we enjoy a walking tour and visit to Durham Cathedral a magnificent Norman Romanesque church in northeast England built between 1093 and 1133. Many films have been filmed here most notably Harry Potter and The Avengers. The afternoon is free to explore on your own.
We journey into Scotland with a visit to magnificent Alnwick Castle, one of Britain’s most impressive castles. Continue to the coast at Holy Island for traditional fish and chips before crossing into the Scottish Borders via beautiful Paxton House and arriving into Peebles where we will stay for the next 6 nights.
We begin the day with a visit to the atmospheric Melrose Abbey before travelling to the Floors Castle, Scotland’s largest inhabited castle, surrounded by stunning gardens and countryside.
We admire breathtaking views from Scott’s View, one of the Scottish Borders’ most famous viewpoints. Visit the historic Jedburgh Abbey and explore Mary Queen of Scots House, uncovering fascinating stories from Scotland’s royal past. We enjoy dinner at a local restaurant in Peebles tonight.
We visit Abbotsford, the magnificent former home of renowned Scottish author Sir Walter Scott. We continue to the Borders Textile Towerhouse to discover the region’s traditional textile heritage.
We explore the dramatic ruins of Hermitage Castle, steeped in centuries of Scottish history and legend. Enjoy a delightful afternoon tea experience before a relaxing afternoon at leisure.
We discover the fascinating Victorian world of Robert Smail’s Printing Works, where traditional printing techniques are preserved. We then visit historic Traquair House, Scotland’s oldest inhabited house, with time for an ale tasting experience.
We travel to Scotland’s magnificent capital, Edinburgh, with a stop for lunch along the way. We enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic Old Town, Royal Mile, and famous city landmarks before free time and check into our hotel for the next 2 nights.
We explore Edinburgh’s royal heritage with a visit to Holyrood Palace. Spend the afternoon at leisure to shop, explore museums, or enjoy the city’s unique atmosphere. Celebrate your final evening with our Farewell Dinner.
We fly home from Edinburgh.
