Active pace with longer touring days. Expect intermittent walking at a moderate pace for 2–3 hours over a variety of terrain, including cobblestones, hills and uneven pavements. Must be able to negotiate stairs of varying heights, sometimes without handrails. Can tolerate periods of standing during guided tours and be able to climb in/out of various modes of transportation. Some days may include 5–7 km of walking over the course of the day.

Visit Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal, with time to explore its beautifully preserved medieval centre. Continue to Vila Real to visit the elegant Casa de Mateus, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, before ending the day at Quinta da Pacheca or similar with a memorable dinner and wine tasting experience.

Depart for Aveiro, the “Venice of Portugal,” known for its charming canals and colourful traditional boats. Enjoy an Ovos Moles workshop, followed by lunch in a local setting, before continuing to Coimbra, the city of knowledge and tradition.
Discover the historic city of Coimbra on a guided tour, featuring the prestigious University of Coimbra and a traditional Fado performance. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the city at your own pace.
Travel through the scenic Alentejo countryside to the medieval hilltop town of Castelo de Vide, where we explore its charming streets and historic Jewish Quarter.
Explore the UNESCO-listed city of Évora, one of Portugal’s best-preserved medieval towns. Later, enjoy an “Oleologist for a Day” olive oil experience followed by a traditional Alentejo lunch, before dinner at a local estate.
Departure towards the Algarve, passing through Beja, an important historic city of the Alentejo region.
Excursion to Lagos, including a spectacular 2-hour boat trip along its dramatic coastline and free time to explore the historic centre.
A full day at leisure to relax and enjoy Albufeira’s coastal charm.
Travel north towards Lisbon with a stop in the fishing port of Setúbal, where we enjoy a traditional Portuguese tile workshop showcasing the country’s renowned craftsmanship. Continue to Lisbon for a 3-night stay.
Begin with a visit to the National Palace of Queluz, with its wonderful Rococo architecture, and then take a scenic drive along Cabo da Roca, passing Guincho Beach and the seaside chasm of Boca do Inferno (“Hell’s Mouth”).
Take a city tour of Alfama, Jerónimos Monastery, Monument of the Discoveries, and Belém Tower. After, enjoy a tasting of the famous Belém custard tart. This evening we will enjoy a Farewell Dinner along with a Fado show of traditional folk music.
We return to Canada, non-stop to Toronto.
