Embark on an exciting new hiking tour through the hidden trails of Italy and Slovenia
Energetic pace with more physically demanding activity. Longer walking/hiking tours (more than 3 hours), over uneven and possibly rugged terrain. Expect some longer days. Varying altitudes with some steep ascents/descents. Capable of standing for extended periods of time. Some days may include 5–13 km of walking over the course of the day.
We fly to Venice, Italy via Frankfurt.
We transfer to our hotel in the village of Dobbiaco, the picturesque Gateway to the Dolomites (3-hour coach transfer). Located on a high plateau, it offers spectacular views of the colourful mountains. In the afternoon, we take a guided orientation tour.
We meander through charming Tyrolean villages, marveling at ancient frescoed churches and truly incredible views.
Today’s walk is around picturesque Lago di Braie, where the stunning colours of the mountains are reflected on the water’s surface. We will also see the famous wooden chalet and unique timber rowboats.
Tre Cime (the Three Peaks) is one of the most famous sites in the Dolomites, with three jagged peaks that dominate the landscape. Today’s route takes us toward the peaks of Cime Nove and Cime Ganda, to San Candido and along an old military route from WWI.
Relax and unwind by the pool or lake, or if you're up for some exploration, you can take the 20-minute train ride to the charming town of Versciaco.
Today we embark on a breathtaking hike to Monte Specie. As we reach the summit cross, known as Croce dei Reduci, our reward is a panoramic view of the Tofane, Monte Cristallo, and the iconic Tre Cime surrounded by the majestic Sesto Dolomites.
We start our day with a train ride to Brunek and take a cable car to beautiful Kronplatz. At the summit, we will visit the Corones Messner Mountain Museum, an architectural gem that celebrates traditional mountaineering. Take in the breathtaking mountain views as you stroll around the summit, then return to Brunek for some free time in town.
We depart for Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, doorway to the Slavic world and window to Germanic and Latin cultures. After a morning city tour, we continue to the charming town of Piran on the Slovenian coast.
Today our walk takes us along a picturesque path through the town’s charming streets and along the stunning coastline. In the afternoon, we enjoy free time to soak in more of Piran’s magic.
Today we take in extraordinary views of Croatia’s Istrian peninsula and the coast of Italy as we walk a loop from the coast through the inviting countryside. We arrive in Strunjan Park with the option to extend the walk further to see superb views of the Adriatic, and visit Strunjan Beach for a refreshing swim.
We return to Venice to take our flight back to Canada.
