Ligurian Riviera With Venice, Verona & Milan
Moderate pace with leisurely intermittent walks up to 2 hours on a variety of terrain, including cobblestones and moderate hills. Must be able to climb at least two flights of stairs, negotiate steps without railings and tolerate periods of standing during guided tours. Some days may include 3–5 km of walking over the course of the day.
We depart for Amsterdam.
We arrive in Milan and transfer to the enchanting city of Verona for a 3-night stay. This evening, we enjoy our Welcome dinner.
Today, travel by coach to a historic Valpolicella winery for a guided cellar tour and tasting. Then return to romantic Verona—famous for its Roman ruins, medieval architecture, and the setting of Romeo & Juliet. Enjoy a walking tour of the historic center, including Juliet’s balcony and the Roman Arena, followed by free time before dinner at leisure.
After breakfast, we take the high-speed Frecciarossa train to Venice. Renowned for its canals and Byzantine history, Venice has captivated visitors for centuries. On arrival, take a private boat to Cornoldi’s near St. Mark’s Square for a guided walking tour. The afternoon is free to explore—perhaps enjoy a gondola ride or wander quieter corners—before returning to Verona by train.
En route to Chiavari on the stunning Italian Riviera, we stop in Parma—at the heart of Italy’s famed Food Valley. Enjoy a guided walking tour through its historic center, sampling Parmigiano Reggiano, balsamic vinegar, Prosciutto di Parma, and local wines at a traditional enoteca. In the evening, we arrive in Chiavari and enjoy dinner at the hotel.
A morning guided orientation walking tour of Chiavari, exploring its elegant porticos, hidden corners, and relaxed seafront promenade. In the afternoon, we enjoy tea at the historic Caffè Defilla, a beloved local landmark. Dinner this evening is at the hotel restaurant.
Spend the morning exploring Chiavari’s vibrant local market, soaking in the lively atmosphere and sampling regional specialties. Afterwards, take a relaxing stroll along the seafront or, if you wish, a short train ride to nearby Sestri Levante for independent exploration.

Today we travel along one of Italy’s most stunning coastlines by train and boat, visiting the elegant town of Santa Margherita and the iconic village of Portofino. Nestled in a postcard-perfect harbor of pastel houses, Portofino has transformed from a fishing village into a renowned Mediterranean retreat. This evening, enjoy dinner at a traditional restaurant along the scenic seafront promenade.
We embark on a scenic local train journey to the breathtaking Cinque Terre; five colorful villages perched along the rugged Ligurian coastline. Explore the charming lanes and views of Manarola, then visit Vernazza’s lively harbor. Weather permitting, enjoy a boat ride to Monterosso, famed for its sandy beach and relaxed atmosphere.
Slow down and savour the pace of life in Chiavari. Enjoy a cappuccino under the porticos, take a walk along the beach, or find a quiet spot to watch the world go by.
A day exploring the scenic hills and valleys of Val d’Aveto with a peaceful walk-through unspoiled nature. Visit a family-run cheese factory to discover local production methods, then enjoy a hands-on cooking class preparing traditional dishes with fresh, local ingredients—a true taste of Ligurian country life. A farmhouse lunch featuring regional specialties is included.
This morning, explore Genoa’s UNESCO-listed historic center on a guided walking tour, discovering its narrow alleys, grand Renaissance palaces on Via Garibaldi, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, and the revitalized Old Port. Learn about Genoa’s maritime history and Christopher Columbus. After a break, travel by coach to Milan and check in to the hotel.
We begin with a guided tour of Milan, Italy’s fashion capital, visiting landmarks like the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, La Scala Theatre, and the stunning Gothic Duomo. The afternoon is free to explore—shop, visit museums, or soak in the city’s stylish vibe. In the evening, we will celebrate our Farewell Dinner at a traditional Milanese restaurant.
We bid arrivederci to Italy for our flight home via Amsterdam.
