Upon arrival in Charlottetown, we check in at our hotel. Afterwards, we discover the historic centre of PEI’s capital on our walking tour, with its hidden gems and heritage buildings; the Province House—the birthplace of the Canadian Confederation, the Confederation Centre of the Arts —a cultural hub, the lush Victoria Park, Charlottetown Waterfront and more! This evening enjoy our Welcome Dinner.

A short transfer takes us to Dunedin for our first guided walk on The Island Walk’s MacEachern Road, a heritage red dirt road shaded by trees, continuing along Cow Horn Road to Argyle Shore Road. Next, we head to Victoriaby-the-Sea on PEI’s South Shore. Welcoming visitors since the early 1900s, this charming village still beckons with seaside architecture, shops, and restaurants where in your free time you can enjoy a lobster roll, PEI chocolates, and visit the lighthouse. We continue with a photo stop at the iconic Confederation Bridge, Canada’s longest, before heading to Summerside, our home base for the next 3 nights.

Today, you can join a guided walk along the 273 km long Confederation Trail, which was created from old railway lines when trains stopped operating in 1988. Starting from our hotel, we will walk to the former train station in Kensington. Enjoy the scenic views of PEI’s serene countryside along the way. Then take the shuttle back to Summerside for an afternoon at leisure. Alternatively, you can stay in Summerside and enjoy a selfguided walk along the wonderful 7 km Summerside Waterfront Boardwalk, which runs along the shoreline of Bedeque Bay and offers great views of the harbour. There are also shops, a theatre and cafés along the way, making it a great spot for bird watching. You may also wish to visit one of the town’s many interesting museums and cultural centres.

On this full-day tour, we first visit Cavendish and Green Gables Heritage Place, where one of Canada’s most beloved works of literature is brought to life. Walk the grounds, tour the Green Gables house and visitor centre, or stroll along a beautiful trail. Next, a short drive will take us to the picturesque village of New Glasgow and The Preserve Company, housed in a 1913 butter creamery. Home to PEI’s finest preserves, it has a café and a beautiful garden. Returning to Cavendish, we continue our walk through PEI National Park alongside the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Its protected beaches and wetlands are home to many bird species, including the endangered piping plover. Take in the views of the beaches and the coastline stretching as far as North Rustico Harbour, one of the island’s largest lobster ports. We then enjoy a lobster dinner here before returning to Summerside.

We depart for Morell, the starting point of our journey along the most scenic sections of the Confederation Trail. As we walk along the shoreline of beautiful St. Peter’s Bay, we see hundreds of buoys belonging to mussel farms, and enjoy some breathtaking views of St. Peter’s itself, with its lovely artisan shops and cafés. Next, we will explore Greenwich PEI National Park, which contains an extensive and fragile coastal dune system. We will enjoy a visit to the Interpretive Centre and walk through this pristine and unique ecosystem. Afterwards, we continue to our resort hotel, which is located within Brudenell River Provincial Park.

Our last day is filled with marvelous vistas, starting with a walk from Bothwell Beach to Basin Head Provincial Park. Stroll on the fine white sand of Singing Sands Beach, which squeaks as you walk—a perfect spot for a dip! Next, visit the fascinating Fisheries Museum with its captivating exhibits. We then head south for a traditional Acadian lunch and a visit to Roma at Three Rivers National Historic Site, an interactive glimpse into 18th-century PEI French settler life. This evening, enjoy Montague’s charming waterfront and our Farewell Dinner.

Time to bid a warm farewell to PEI and our new fellow walkers!
