Healing Waters & Hidden Histories 🌊🏛️

October 1, 2026

‍

Dear Traveller,

Every trip has them, those moments where you wander without a destination, take your time selecting the perfect snack at a bustling market, or give yourself a break at a quiet spa.

This month's featured journeys all offer those moments: a soak in a thermal spring, a chance to experience a local culture, or the opportunity to get a little lost in a picturesque city.

On our Timeless Campania tour, explore Ischia’s gentle island pace. This tiny destination off Italy’s coast has been a quiet respite for travellers for centuries, with volcano-warmed waters and welcoming hospitality.

Our stay-put tour to the Dominican Republic takes you beyond the typical all-inclusive holiday. Dive deeper into the local culture with a moving experience that brings the island's Indigenous people and their history to life.

Plus, if you love to wander, a stop in Copenhagen on our European Capitals Cruise is the perfect chance to spend a few lovely hours strolling the streets of the city’s charming centre and enjoying its wonderful cafe culture.

Ready for a journey filled with meaningful travel moments? We’ve got you covered. Check our latest brochures for these and other incredible itineraries.

Happy travels!

Spaah-ing in Ischia

Just off the coast of Naples, you’ll find an island with all the beauty of Capri – but none of its crowds. Instead of day-trippers and overpriced drinks, Ischia has authentic charm: pretty fishing villages, family-run thermal parks, and a visitor mix that skews local. It’s small and chic, with six towns that each have their own distinct personality.

A living volcano beneath your feet‍

Mount Epomeo, the island's highest point, is a dormant volcano. You can see evidence of geothermal activity in the fumaroles (natural vents that emit magma-warmed steam), areas of heated sand, and the natural hot springs you’ll encounter everywhere.‍

A wellness tradition for millennia

‍That volcanic geology creates mineral-rich thermal waters that have drawn visitors to the island since ancient Greek and Roman times. Locals have long believed the mineral content helps ease arthritis, skin conditions, and respiratory complaints. It's a tradition that's still very much part of daily life on the island today.

If you love to “take the waters,” in a stunning Italian setting, our 16-day Timeless Campania tour is right up your alley. We spend 10 days on Ischia, with day trips to Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, and Capri with plenty of time to soak and enjoy.

A taste of history in the Dominican Republic

A trip to the Dominican Republic means beautiful beaches and plenty of time to relax and enjoy. When you travel with us, it also means a deeper experience – a chance to get to know the place beyond its blue waters and all-inclusive buffets.

Spending two weeks there gives you time to really get to know the island and get familiar with something most travellers miss: the island's rich Indigenous history.

The TaĂno were the Indigenous people of the Caribbean, present on the island long before Columbus arrived in 1492. Sadly, colonization and disease destroyed the population but their influence is still a very real part of the local culture.

Words like hamaca (hammock), huracán (hurricane), and barbacoa (barbecue) all trace back to the Taíno language. Elements of their farming methods, food, and spiritual traditions remain woven into Dominican life.

‍A morning in Taíno Valley Tropical Park‍

Our trip includes a day at Taíno Valley Tropical Park, where you’ll have time to wander through lush tropical  gardens and learn about the spiritual traditions of the Taíno people, including their reverence for nature and the caves and rivers they considered sacred.

Join us on our 15-day Dominican Republic tour. We'll stay at the all-inclusive Hodelpa Emotions Puerto Plata resort, set right on the golden sands of Playa Dorada, with great dining, spa services and more – the ideal getaway to relax, recharge, and take a deeper dive into your destination.

A perfect day in Copenhagen

Copenhagen rewards an easy pace, which makes it an ideal port day: compact enough to see plenty on foot, with lots of appealing spots to simply sit and enjoy.

‍Nyhavn and the harbour

‍Start your wanderings along Copenhagen's lovely 17th-century harbour, which is lined with brightly coloured townhouses and old wooden ships bobbing at their moorings. The whole scene is highly camera-worthy, especially if you catch it in the morning light.

‍Snack with a view

‍Copenhagen's café culture rewards lingering, so grab a seat at a pretty canal-side café, order a coffee and a kanelsnegl (Danish cinnamon roll), and watch the city go by as you sip and plan your next steps.

‍Palaces and mermaids

‍From there, it's a pleasant walk to Amalienborg Palace, the winter home of the Danish royal family where four matching rococo mansions face each other across a cobbled courtyard. Then, check out the famous Little Mermaid statue, perched on her rock at the water's edge. She's smaller than most people expect but the harbourside walk to reach her, past docks and old warehouses, is half the charm.

‍One more taste before you go

‍Don’t miss trying a smørrebrød: the classic open-faced rye sandwich piled with toppings like pickled herring, egg and shrimp, or roast pork and red cabbage. It's a Danish lunchtime staple, and a great way to sample several flavours as you stand at a harbourside stall or sit at a smørrebrød café.

‍Back to the ship, unhurried

‍Wander back toward the ship at a relaxed pace, taking in one more stretch of cobbled streets before reboarding.

Copenhagen is just one stop on our 14-day European Capitals Cruise aboard the Majestic Princess, which also includes calls in Bruges, Amsterdam, Aarhus, Hamburg, and Paris.
